New Beginnings

It has been an interesting several months. Now, how did I start this blog is interesting. Actually my husband is the one that took initiative.  I did NOT want to do anything with it but than again here I am typing away....Well let me start than, it began several months ago as I was planning my boys bday party and an unexpected financial blooper came up and all my special plans went down the hole. So I had to rethink and figure out what I could do to make my boys Bday fun and special, like any momma would want. First thing in mind was the cakes, I am picky about cakes and I like unique and fun cakes meaning elaborate cakes..:)
I had a mission.... to learn how to bake a cake and decorate the heck out of it!. So youtube it was, I sat every night for a month straight looking at cake designs, and how to make them, and taking notes. I was serious about this stuff . It was my duty as a momma----at least that is how I felt and still feel.  Now I did focus on fondant, marshmallow fondant that is...SIGH!  My oldest  came to me on one of the nights and said "mom I want Jake cake"...yep! I than started my hunting for Jake and the neverland pirates theme cakes.  As for my other lil one, he is my little teddy bear so a teddy bear theme cake was perfect to make. After much searching and getting ideas online. I had my designs and my marshmallow fondant recipe down and everything else in HOW TO MAKE A CAKE...
July, their bday month came and it was time to gear up to make these cakes. After 2 days of baking cakes and making fondant and putting it all together D-day arrived, my boys cake was all done and I was happy with the results for a beginner.
August came and my brother decided to get married- SURPRISE!!!! In two weeks my brother was going to be a married man so I figured that I can make him and his wonderful bride a wedding cake annnnndd I did. It came out beautiful.
Last night I posted a sarcastic little comment regarding my cake making and my hubby trying to make a little business off of it on my FB and to my SHOCK an old friend is getting married and would like me to make her a wedding cake. Of course I freaked out and threw a pillow at my hubby...I felt honored but surely like a lump of bricks fell upon my shoulders. So I am here being encouraged by my wonderful husband and me wanting to do it but the other half of me fears for the worst case scenarios........So I'm here in the middle trying to figure out what I should do.  If I do decide to do it, I have a year to get my booty in gear and perfect the cake making skills.

So this is how this blog came into my husbands mind. He says," Magie, I'll create a blog for you so you can post your cakes. You should do this maybe you can even sell the cakes!" This is my crazy husbands idea. Maybe something will come out of this maybe not but I guess I need something like this....

  1. Your cakes look so beautiful! I would not have thought a "beginner baker" made these. Great job! I see future cake sells for you! :)
